Why Homemade Facial Masks Are So Good.

Convenient facial mask treatment can be yours right at your own home.

Too often, home sounds like a haven of comfort in-between our urban lifestyle, which is why pampering our skin, especially with facial mask, during our precious time at home becomes both a relaxing experience and a rewarding skin care treat.

Making our own facial masks also adds to the stress-free relief of facials, particularly a relief from driving to the nearest spa or facial salon.

Easy and quick access to the facial mask’s ingredients.

One of the best reasons to make your own facial mask is that you can normally find the ingredients in your home, i.e., specifically your kitchen’s pantries, fridge, or garden - or at a quick trip to your grocery store.

Favorite homemade facial mask ingredients, like the skin moisturizing and radiance-boosting honey extract, the skin-firming milk or egg whites, the anti-trouble oatmeal or lemon extracts, and many types of skin-rejuvenating fruit extracts are available all year-round. Not only are they inexpensive, mixing them together may take as short as 10 minutes, and they offer the same great skin results like the facial masks, which are exclusively formulated by specialty beauty shops.

Did you know: Many spas even use their own formulas and facial recipes similar to the ones that we share below.

Simple, fresh, and natural ingredients.

Our skin only needs simple, fresh, and natural ingredients, and homemade facial masks deliver just that.

Free from the skin-irritating preservatives and ingredients, like Parabens, you know that your skin can rely on the fact that it receives only the essential skin care nutrients.

Take note, however, that these ingredients are quick to perish, so you need to use your facial mask promptly, store it in a cool and dry place, and throw it immediately when a noticeable smell or color is present.1

Tips and Things You Need to Know Before Making and Using Your Own Facial Mask.

Possible reduced effectiveness of homemade facial masks.

Natural extracts in homemade facial masks tend to have bigger molecules as compared to facial masks that are formulated and developed in skin care laboratories, and such may prevent them from penetrating to the deeper areas of the skin, where they are most needed, thus their reduced effectiveness.

Be sure you are not allergic to the Ingredients of your homemade facial mask.

While natural ingredients prove to be less irritating for the skin, some of them however, may cause skin irritations or allergic reactions, especially to sensitive skin, which symptoms include:1

  • Skin redness;
  • Increased sensitivity to the sun;
  • Itchiness or skin burning;
  • Scaly patches on the skin; and,
  • Swelling of the eyes and face.

To counter, know which ingredients will work and won’t work for your skin type and your skin condition before making your own facial mask. Remember the precious rule to skin care: Prevention is always better than cure.

Do a patch test of your homemade facial mask before using it.

A patch test helps to check your skin’s reaction to your homemade facial mask. To do this, apply a bit of your facial mask behind your ear. Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, depending on your skin type, then rinse with warm water. If no adverse reaction develops, then it’s time to pamper your skin with your facial mask.
