How the Skin Ages?
We all get older, but there are ways to keep your skin from aging quickly. Take care of your skin and age gracefully by using our facial masks 1 to 2 times a week. The following is information about how the skin ages and how to prevent premature aging..
Skin Aging Process
The Human skin has three layers, upper layer called epidermis, middle layer dermis and bottom layer sub cutis. While the cells in the epidermis are dead, hard and flat the cells in the dermis are living and comparatively larger and rounder. The sub cutis layer comprises of growing cells that are pushed upwards.
The epidermis will keep shedding off dead cells which are then replaced by new cells produced in the deeper layers of skin. The process of cell regeneration and replacement keeps repeating making the skin look toned, firm and saturated with moisture. As you become older, this process starts slowing down. As a result the appearance and characteristics of your skin will change. You will see signs of your skin aging after the age of 25. Skin ageing process involves a number of dermatological changes.
Major changes are as follows:
slow cell replacements in epidermis
deceleration in turnover of surface layer of the skin
blood vessels in skin will decrease which causes the skin to lose its youthful look
because of reduction in blood vessels the wound healing ability of skin slows down significantly
skin loses resistance against allergens and irritable environmental factors
skin loses its strength and elasticity
skin becomes dry and loose because it loses a large amount of substances responsible for keeping moisture, like GAGs and proteoglycans
skin becomes less chubby and smooth because of high fat loss
When the skin ages, wrinkles form, deep spots, depressions and fine or deep lines in the skin. Skin aging is normal and happens after a biological age. Skin aging also tends to happen prematurely because of chemical pollution and a stressful life.
Some of the factors that can cause early skin aging are:
UV rays
lack of vitamins and minerals in your diet
long term exposure to sunlight
stress
tanning
too much cosmetics use
smoking
Skin Aging Problems
When the skin ages, the epidermis becomes thin as a result the skin looks pale. The cells that contain skin color pigment decrease in quantity and increase in size, which gives a pale color to the skin. Liver spots or lentigo appear on the skin. These spots are age spots and are dark brown appearing on the skin during your middle age. When the skin ages, blood vessels in the dermis loose strength, resulting in increased bruising and bleeding under the skin.
The third layer, subcutaneous layer gives fat padding to the skin. As aging happens, this layer becomes thin resulting in higher risk for skin injury. Sweat and sebaceous glands becomes less active making the skin dry. Even though your skin is aging, you can still look young by using our facial masks, which rejuvenates your skin and makes your skin look younger.
